What We Do

Save Quogue represents residents who believe Village government can, and must, do more to preserve Quogue’s historic character.

Our work includes:

• Seeking input from Save Quogue members and providing residents with a meaningful voice in preservation matters.

• Advocating for timely, effective, and responsible action by the Village government.

• Attending public hearings and meetings of the Board of Trustees, Design Review Board, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals when matters affecting historic preservation are under consideration.

• Reviewing and submitting comments on demolition, construction, subdivision, and other land-use applications that may affect Quogue’s historic character.

• Filing Freedom of Information Law requests when necessary to obtain information relevant to our mission.

• Proposing amendments to the Village Code that strengthen protections for historic properties and the Historic District.

• Recommending improvements to Village policies and procedures affecting preservation, demolition, design review, and compatible development.

• Educating residents about significant preservation issues and encouraging informed public participation.

• Playing a constructive role in Village elections by evaluating candidates’ positions on preservation and informing residents about the choices before them.

Save Quogue is committed to vigorous but responsible advocacy. We believe preservation and thoughtful development can coexist - but only when government officials, property owners, and residents recognize that Quogue’s historic character is a public asset worthy of meaningful protection.
